I have never dyed my hair before, could you help me?

I don't know what color to dye my hair. I don't really care about whether I go lighter or darker, I just need a change. I usually wear either dark clothes or bright clothes with some black.

I am planning on cutting my hair, also, but I'm not sure what haircut to get, so if you have any suggestions, they would be much appreciated.

Here are two pictures of me so you can see my hair color %26amp; skin tone. They're a little weird but they're the best ones I could find:

You're a beautiful girl with beautiful hair. Please don't change the color. When you get older %26amp; get a little gray you can always give it a magenta rinse so the highlights will sparkle! But the biggest thing I see you doing wrong is trying to force it flat down %26amp; skinned back %26amp; not letting it be itself. The change you need to make is to let your hair be free %26amp; curly, but with a little product in it that'll tame the frizzes %26amp; let it curl. Don't imagine there's only one kind of good hair. I wish I had all the time back from my youth that I spent trying to force my curly, wavy, frizzy brown hair to be straight %26amp; blond! I learned too late that if I had let it be itself, with a cut that followed the curl instead of fighting it, and a little something to let it curl instead of fuzz, it would have been SO much cheaper, and healthier for my hair, and better looking! A mane of curls is a gorgeous look, your color is beautiful %26amp; YOU are beautiful - so count your blessings! ;o)

I'm going to give you the same advice I give to everyone, but you're probably not going to like it ;-)

Don't dye your hair: the chemicals are bad for you as well as the environment.

Talk to your hairdresser about putting in extensions that are fun looking, like red or purple. Read this article for more information:

I hope I haven't ruined your day :-)

The best way for you to decide is go to a professional. Forget getting advise over the net. I have taught the subject of cosmetology for over 25 years and was very adapt at hair coloring but to give you advise after a couple pictures would be a form of malpractice. See a pro. Art

Well as far as the color goes you can do either a Burgundy or a wheat blond nothing higher then a level 5(the hairdresser will know what this means) and i would recommend getting high lites only this way theres not that much up keep you can do thin high lites all over the head for a more natural look or do medium ones if you want to be a little more jazzy.as for the cut i would recommend maybe two to three inches off of the length and doing a long layer for more curl and it makes it much easier to straighten and you'll still be able to where it up or pulled back you might want to do a little face framing in the front as well but only from the below the chin down.Hope this helps-- from a 15 year licensed cosmetologist
