African American hair?

Whats the best way to get highlights without worrying about hair breakage or damage. I'm black so you know I care about my hair breaking. Its pretty long so I want to be careful.

the best thing to remember after any colorin you do to your hair is it needs to greased a lot afterwards, go to the beautician for colorin because they know the steps to coloring and highlighting hair but it wont be cheap so if you have a friend or yourself do it make sure they/you know what your doing cause i know what you mean about we care about our hair

use only a 5 volume developer with the hilite mixture and go under a dryer for about 10 minutes with the foils in. shampoo well and towel dry. apply conditioner for 3-7 minutes; rinse with cool water. blow dry.

there won't be a huge difference in the color, but enough to not make it brittle and break off and enough to add 'depth' to it.

Go to a professional. It will be worth it. They can help you pick the color and make sure that it process correctly. I use to try to color my hair at home and have found that it is just better to go to a professional.
